"Word of Mouth"
23Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people. 24The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them. 25Large crowds followed Him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan. Matthew 4:23-25 NAS Word of Jesus spread quickly like news of water in the desert. Like the dawn after a long dark night. Here was healing for the body and the soul, here was hope for all people. He healed those "who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics." Someone to take the suffering out of life. Here also was the easy to take Jesus. He healed our bodies and cured our souls. He did the very things we wanted our God to do for us. Yet to come were the realizations that He meant to meet us where we were at, but had no intention of leaving us there. He brought change and threatened many who were in power and wanted to stay there. The word nor was "The Word" to be stopped. Jesus came with holy purpose and the good news would spread. It spread quickly all over the know world of His day. Without phone or TV simply by one person telling another. In our high-tech gadget world with all the media we have available to us, personal word of mouth invitation is still the most powerful and meaningful way to spread the gospel to people. We have a God who desires personal contact with you and personal contact is still the most valuable method available to us. He is still healing today. I have watch healing occur, some of body but so many of the spirit. However much of the change is by the simple sharing of the word. By a humble witnessing to His majesty and glory. Nothing fancy, just tell your story, it works!
"Dear Lord, help me to be a willing servant today. Give me the strength and wisdom to bring people to You. Give me courage and humbleness to go to those You want me to go to. Fill me with a real love for my fellow human beings. Lift me up to serve and teach me Your ways." Pastor Leslie Copyright @ 2007 Rev. Leslie A. Johnson |

Things to Ponder 1) Think about how are you spreading the "good news" to a needy world? 2) Have you brought someone or their needs to Jesus for healing? Have you prayed for both the body and the soul of someone? Remember: We do not have to save the world, Jesus took care of that! 3) Are you bringing your own needs to the Lord? If the messenger or servant is sick, how can they serve? Are you taking care of yourself? These are not the request for things we want but that we need. 4) What are your understandings and expectations of Jesus? Do you understand about Jesus: a) nothing, b) a little, c) a lot, or f) I don't really know? What do you expect from Jesus: a) nothing, b) a little, c) a lot, d) your will be done, e) His will be done, or f) I don't know? 5) Think of the change Jesus brings. What does change mean to you? How do people handle change? Copyright @2007 Rev. Leslie A. Johnson |
