"Gentle Hands"

5:5 "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth."                                                   Matthew 5:5 NAS

A lady sat in a wheel chair staring at her hands.  Hands that were bent and twisted with arthritis, wrinkled and covered with with stains of time. Sadly. in her small voice she says "My hands they are ugly and useless.  They  used to play the piano and do so many fine things.  Now they are just ugly and so useless."

"No, those are the hands that taught hundreds of little hands to play beautiful music on the piano.  They still live in the lives they touched and the lives those other hands touch today.  The fine things that those hands did live on in the needlework and brushstrokes and inspirations they left behind.  Marks of beauty left on so many souls.  Hands that have passed on the task that they so diligently performed.  Hands that so gently taught and guided so many.  Hands that were stronger than steel, yet gentle enough to brush away a tear. Hands that have washed more then their share of dishes and clothes.  Hands that have change diapers and band aides. These are hands that have change the world for the better, one handful at a time.  They are monuments to love and compassion.  They have given and given and given.  They are beautiful and still proclaim the gentle mercy they have always had."

"Oh my, they have been busy.""

Such are the hands of love.  Her hands have changed more live than we can imagine.  One small touch at a time.  All with gentleness.

Gentleness is more powerful than you might  imagine.  Mountains are thrust up by the powerful energies deep within the earth and it is wind and water that wear them back down.

"Holy Spirit, instill gentleness in my being today.  Give me the courage to have a gentle spirit. Put gentleness on my tongue and in my arms.  Let me show gentleness and compassion all the days of my life. Amen."

Things to Ponder

1) You burn less bridges with gentleness.  There is less "collateral" damage.

2) Patience, self-control, and gentleness go hand in hand.

3) A gentle hand can control a powerful race horse.

4) There has never been a greater power than that behind the gentle loving hands of God.

5) The way to win the earth in the end is by being gentle.
